Back in the fall of 2022, Taco Bell fans voted to bring one of two nostalgic former menu items back to the menu for a limited time. After over 750,000 votes were cast over 10 days, Taco Bell announced that the Enchirito had won out over the Double Decker Taco, with 62% of the vote. And thus, the beloved item was brought back for two weeks only.

Well, Enchirito fans can celebrate once again, because the item is making a triumphant return to the menus, no voting required. The news broke during a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) with Taco Bell’s CMO, Taylor Montgomery. Here's what you need to know about the return of the cult favorite menu item.

Taco Bell's Enchirito Is Coming Back to Menus

What is an Enchirito, you ask? For the uninitiated, the Enchirito is Taco Bell's answer to the question, "What would happen if you crossed a burrito with an enchilada?" The Enchirito features seasoned beef, beans, and onions, all rolled into a soft flour tortilla and topped with red enchilada sauce and melted cheddar cheese.

The Enchirito first made its debut on Taco Bell menus all the way back in 1970. According to the company, it was, "one of the first bold innovations that demonstrated Taco Bell's drive for Mexican-inspired fusion." Despite its popularity, the Enchirito was removed from Taco Bell menus back in 2013, after over 40 years.

After fans begged (and voted) for its return, the Enchirito returned to menus in 2022, but for just two weeks only as part of the aforementioned "Brought Back" campaign. Now it's returning, and potentially for even less time.

During the AMA with Taco Bell's CMO, Taylor Montgomery, one Reddit user waxed nostalgic about the item, writing, "The Enchirito was amazing. I’d order it if it was still available. Does anyone else remember this gem?" Montgomery chimed in, replying, “Late last year the Enchirito won the fan vote to temporarily come back on the menu. If you missed it, don't worry, I can confirm publicly for the first time that it will be back very soon for a limited time.”

That's, unfortunately, all we know for now. However, during the AMA, Montgomery also mentioned another nostalgic favorite from the 90s—the Volcano Menu—will be returning as soon as June 27, so it may be sooner rather than later. One thing is for sure: these menu additions are certainly spicing up our summer.
