Taco Bell Has a New $2 Item, and It’s Not a Taco

The downside is it’s only available in one city.

When we think of Taco Bell, we immediately think of tacos—and for good reason. The brand recently announced they’re offering free tacos every Tuesday leading up to a major deal on September 12, it just released a birria-inspired taco, and oh yeah, it’s literally in the name.

But of course, Taco Bell doesn’t just make tacos. And as evidenced by the aforementioned birria-inspired taco, the Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco, the brand is always trying new things. Such is the case with a new line of Chicken Flatbread Melts getting testing at Taco Bell locations in Dayton, Ohio.

The new Chicken Flatbread Melts come in two flavors: Mexican BBQ Flatbread Melt and Three-Cheese Flatbread Melt. The Mexican BBQ version is topped with grilled chicken covered in barbecue sauce as well as a melty three-cheese medley of Cheddar, mozzarella, and Monterey pepper Jack. The Three-Cheese Flatbread Melt takes that same melty cheese combo and adds some zest with Taco Bell’s Creamy Chipotle sauce. And the best part is that the new item is currently priced at $2—not a bad price for a quick snack.

While the flatbread melts are only in Dayton, Ohio, there’s a new burrito undergoing a trial test in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese Burritos feature a new slow-braised shredded beef (seemingly the same beef used in the Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco), a melted three-cheese blend, and a green sauce. As for the rest of us across the country, we’ll have to make do with the newly returned Beefy Crunch Burrito.
