T.I. Is Learning to Be “More Sensitive” After Coming Under Fire for Virginity Comments

• T.I.’s stepdaughter says he has made progress on how he handles his daughters’ feelings after he received backlash for speaking insensitively about Deyjah Harris and her virginity.

• He’s more careful and thoughtful now, and his relationship with Deyjah has improved as a result.

Last year was incredibly tough for Deyjah Harris, the 18-year-old daughter of T.I. I know last year feels like literal ages ago, so here’s a quick refresher: T.I. went on the Ladies Like Us podcast and shared that he keeps an uncomfortably close eye on his daughter’s hymen by taking her to a gynecologist every year to make sure she is a virgin. And if that wasn’t already awful enough, he saw no problem with his actions and said virgins are “no fun” because no one would want to be with her because of “all that work.” Pretty messed up, if you ask me.

Two months after his insensitive comments, T.I. kinda-sorta issued an apology to Deyjah for his behavior, saying:

Since then, T.I. has been making progress on how he handles his daughters’ feelings. According to his stepdaughter, Zonnique Pullins, he’s learning to be more thoughtful.

“He’s definitely just been learning with the girls on how to handle certain things and how to go about certain things when it comes to us,” Zonnique told Entertainment Tonight. “I feel like it’s a lot of stuff he didn’t realize when it comes to a young girl’s feelings. So I feel like now he’s a little bit more careful. He just goes about everything a little bit differently now, definitely. He’s more sensitive with everything.”

Speaking more explicitly about T.I. and Deyjah’s relationship post-controversy, Zonnique says their relationship with each other has improved since comments last fall.

“Their relationship has gotten better and they’ve both grown. He’s not overbearing in certain situations. He’s changed when it comes to Deyjah,” she added. “Their relationship is in a really good place, actually. It took a minute for them to get to this place, but I feel like they’re just doing really good.”

Sincerely hoping this means T.I. will allow Deyjah to take herself to the gyno from now on and will keep his nose out of her private business!
