T LABEL's Captivating Runway Debut Took the Words Right Out of Our Mouths

T LABEL just made its runway debut this season at London Fashion Week, and it did not disappoint. After showcasing its first-ever presentation at Paris Fashion Week in 2022, the romantic-wear brand comes home for Spring/Summer 2024, to present "A Shell for a Human." Exploring our connection to the physical, the collection investigates our relationships with what "hosts our spirit," whether that be a body, a house or clothing, and looks at the concept of the shell.

"The show explores the human body as a shell and what my shell means to me. After having my first anxiety attack last October before our Paris show, I found the sensitivity of our bodies and how precious they are fascinating. I wanted to use the opportunity of showing this collection to be more honest about what it means to be a self-funded designer in this industry and the financial pressures of taking part in fashion week with small amounts of resources," explains founder Taylor-Bea Gordon.

WHO: Guests attended the show dressed in T LABEL's past collections. Made up of friends, family and supporters, the dynamic Sunday night crowd was as gorgeous as the models.

WHERE: The showcase was held in a wellness studio in London's Clapton, where attendees were given healthy snacks and beverages in a bid to continue the theme of providing shelter and looking after ourselves.

SEE: Without a doubt, the collection's standout garment was a skirt which featured the words "Fashion Week Gives Me Anxiety," in a nod to Gordon's own experience of working as a rising brand during the fashion week season. Elsewhere, a selection of beaded tops, dresses and bottoms continued T LABEL's upcycling legacy, paired with sheer organza, wrapped gloves and a new vase holder bag which aimed to celebrate growth and the result of cultivating our outer shells.

TOUCH: Handcrafted beading techniques made up the majority of the collection, alongside organza textures and layering over sheer clothing. Creating a mixture of weights, SS24 saw heavy beading laid over delicate fabrics, with deadstock materials used throughout.

HEAR: Adding to the undeniable sex appeal of the garments, the collection was soundtracked by a selection of romance-inducing tracks, including Jeremih's "F-ck You All The Time."

TASTE: In line with our recent trend spotlight, which charts the runway return of sheer fabrics, it's safe to say that sheer is here to stay, and likely to form the basis of numerous SS24 outfits. The collection offered an evolution of the trend, pairing sheer fabrics with heavy-duty accessories.
