For any fledgling It girl, whether she is on the ascent in Hollywood or on Instagram, in sports or in music, there is arguably no truer sign of arrival than the luxury brand ambassadorship. Sofia Richie Grainge, who was just crowned Queen of the Tiktokcracy in T&C's September issue, can now add this to her list of accomplishments: she is the face of David Yurman's new Sculpted Cable collection of bangles.

As with the most fruitful of partnerships, there was a clear synergy of values and vibe. Richie Grainge's meteoric rise to A-list status can be attributed to the impressive style transformation she engineered—via, among other things, loads of Chanel couture—for her wedding this past spring, to Elliot Grainge, at the Hôtel du Cap. Seemingly overnight she had become a paragon of sotto voce eleganza. And what is David Yurman if not also the epitome of American-made stealth wealth?

The brand was founded on this principle more than 40 years ago (and decades before stealth wealth even entered the modern lexicon). A piece of David Yurman jewelry is recognized only by its craftsmanship, and particularly that iconic cable motif—"the river that runs through all of our designs," as David has said—that has been the house signature for about as long as the house has been around.

"My first David Yurman that I remember was a piece of my mother’s jewelry that I found in her closet—I loved and eventually stole it,” says Sofia Richie Grainge, the latest ambassador to join the David Yurman family.Glen Luchford

The idea for it was born circa 1980, around the time David was beginning to merge his first trade, sculpture, with jewelry design. "He wanted to join rows of wires together and twist them, which we take for granted as something really easy to do, but it was actually quite difficult," says David's son Evan, who is now at the helm of the company. Once the feat was achieved, it still would be another few years before it became a hallmark of their jewelry. "There was something special about it that made him keep coming back to it," he says. "Then he decided to elaborate on it. And elaborating on it has become a signature style for David Yurman."

Which brings us to the present day. For the latest iteration of the brand's perennial Sculpted Cable collection, Evan has designed a suite of bangles he calls the ultimate celebration of the motif. "It's the most distilled version we have, a low-profile, almost ribbon-like strip. It's the purest form of sculpted cable, which for me is the most modern iteration that we have done," he says. "I'm personally a minimalist and I really believe that some of the most difficult things to do are the most simple."
