I Can’t Believe This Savory Doughnut Is My New Favorite Flavor

Don't knock it 'til you try it!

We all know there’s no better treat than a fresh doughnut with your cup of coffee in the morning. However, typically, I’d probably opt for a Krispy Kreme seasonal doughnut or a Dunkin’ coffee-and-doughnut combo. I’d never expect to try a savory doughnut—or even see one on the menu for that matter.

But, thanks to Dough Doughnuts' newest collaboration with McCormick, not only did I try my first savory doughnut, but I fell in love with it, too.

Dough Doughnuts, a New York City institution, teamed up with McCormick (yes, the spice company) to create a collection of “Holiday Bites” doughnuts. The collection takes you through a whole three-course Thanksgiving meal—from the stuffing and gravy to the cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie—with three doughnut flavors made with McCormick spices and products.

The new limited-edition flavors include “It’s All Gravy,” “Cranberry Craze,” and “Pumpkin to Talk About.”

“It’s All Gravy” is the savory doughnut you didn’t know you needed, made with McCormick Brown Gravy-infused dough, ground sage, black pepper, brown gravy glaze, and stuffing crumbles topped with garlic powder—all tied together with a sweet maple cheesecake filling. This doughnut is shockingly delicious—it tastes like you made stuffing with sweet rolls and added a dash of sugar to your gravy packet. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and savory and you’ll just have to try it to believe it.

“Cranberry Craze” is filled with tangy cranberry jam and features McCormick’s rosemary leaves. This doughnut is your classic jelly-filled doughnut with those sweet and sour flavors you love from cranberry sauce—no matter if it’s homemade or from the can.

For the final course, “Pumpkin to Talk About” is a doughnut filled with creamy pumpkin pie filling, featuring McCormick’s pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, and cinnamon. The dessert doughnut is topped with a crunchy meringue to mimic pumpkin pie’s best friend: a dollop of whipped cream. This doughnut is perfect for anyone who loves pumpkin pie, it’s everything you know and love about the after-dinner treat rolled into a bite-sized doughnut.

The dozens are available to order now on Dough Doughnuts’ site for nationwide shipping. Each order comes in a collectible tin and should arrive by Thanksgiving—so you can serve them up for breakfast while watching the Parade, after your true three-course meal is over, or really anytime in between. The doughnut box costs $69 and are available while supplies last.

This is McCormick’s second time releasing doughnuts with Dough. Last year, the pair introduced French’s Mustard Doughnuts—a mustard-infused doughnut topped with mustard coating and mustard cake—for National Mustard Day (a.k.a. the same day McCormick rolled out Mustard Skittles this year).

With two savory doughnuts under their belt, we hope this Dough x McCormick partnership doesn’t stop here. But, for now, be sure to place your Thanksgiving doughnut order before they sell out—and, seriously, don’t knock them before you try them!
