  • SZA and Justin Timberlake teamed up for a new song, "The Other Side," and released a shiny, futuristic video for the funk-inspired track.

  • The song appears on the Trolls World Tour soundtrack.

SZA is back in our lives with the release of her new song, “The Other Side,” a track she recorded with Justin Timberlake. (Though for some die-hard fans, it's not like she ever left.) The song, which was released with an accompanying music video, is for the upcoming Trolls World Tour movie soundtrack, and much like the Timberlake–Trolls predecessor, “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” it’s set to be a hit.

SZA and JT alternate verses in the funk-inspired song, complete with a catchy melody and bass line. Both artists co-wrote the track, along with Ludwig Göransson (a frequent Childish Gambino collaborator and the composer behind Black Panther’s Oscar-winning score) and pop powerhouse Max Martin.

“I was so thrilled to be invited to participate in this project with Justin,” SZA said of working with Timberlake in a statement. “The creative process of working with him and the team was filled with such excitement. It’s an energy you can feel in both the song and music video. I can’t wait for people to check it out.”

The “Supermodel” singer stuns in the visuals, donning various ensembles including a disco ball-like jumpsuit, a shimmery purple halter top and wrap skirt, and a mod black-and-white getup. This is likely the start of a highly anticipated return for the Grammy nominee, who teased in early 2020 that she’s releasing new music this year. She also hinted that she has something in the works with Sam Smith and Megan Thee Stallion.
