Sylvester Stallone’s Latest Workout Is Like Something From a 'Rocky' Movie

Sylvester Stallone will forever be synonymous with Rocky Balboa, the underdog character that he created way back in the 1970s and which he has reprised in every decade since. And while Stallone has stated that Rocky will not be appearing in the upcoming spinoff sequel Creed III, his latest gym video on Instagram looks like something right out of one of the franchise's famous training montages.

"Good 'heavy' morning! Punching hard till the final bell," Stallone wrote in the caption for the short video, in which he appears to be performing a variation of a getup with a plate grip. While it's a less-than-conventional exercise to be performing, the 74-year-old action star looks jacked as he pushes through some obvious discomfort and rises to his feet without letting his grip on either of the weights slip.

The video was captured during a recent session with personal trainer and strength coach Gunnar Peterson, whose other famous clients include Olympic athlete Lindsey Vonn, hockey star P.K. Subban, and actors like Hugh Jackman, Matthew McConaughey and Kate Beckinsale. It's unclear whether Stallone is training for something in particular—the next installment in the Expendables series, perhaps?—or just determined to show that he's still got what it takes to go all-out in the gym, lest his longtime pal Arnold Schwarzenegger start trolling him again.

Stallone regularly shares glimpses of his workouts on social media, including throwbacks to the intense training that helped him sculpt his body while he was filming the Rocky and Rambo movies. Want to train like Sly in his prime? Check out these three John Rambo-inspired workouts.
