After Sydney Sweeney revealed she spoke up about the "unnecessary" nudity in some of her Euphoria scenes, fans have expressed their worries that she's being exploited. The 24-year-old actress, who plays Cassie on the show, told the Independent that had a conversation with showrunner Sam Levinson about cutting some of her character's shirtless scenes. "There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, 'I don't really think that's necessary here,'" Sydney said. "He was like, 'Okay, we don't need it.' I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show. When I didn't want to do it, he didn't make me."
Even after Sydney explained that she felt safe and comfortable on the Euphoria set, her supporters still took to Twitter in her defense.
I don't understand why Sydney Sweeney has to get naked so often. I could be wrong, but this sounds very exploitative. she's a great actress, please, let her dress up

It seems that these tweets may have surfaced on Sydney's timeline because, in her latest interview with The Washington Post, she reiterated that Sam has been nothing but supportive and that she's never felt "pressured" to do anything explicit and that he recently complied with her request to added clothing to a nude scene.
"I said, 'Sam, I don't think that she needs to be naked in the scene and I don't feel comfortable doing it. Everyone's just going to look at my boobs and not actually take the scene seriously for the content that's happening,'" she explained to the outlet. "He was like, 'Okay, yeah. You don’t have to do that.' … I appreciate people being worried … but I'm totally fine on Euphoria."
In her interview with the Independent, Sydney also discussed the double standards surrounding nude or explicit scenes in Hollywood. "When a guy has a sex scene or shows his body, he still wins awards and gets praise. But the moment a girl does it, it's completely different," Sydney said. "No one talks about it because I got naked. I do The White Lotus and all of the sudden, critics are paying attention."
