The actress is speaking out after mom's 'hoedown' birthday party pics.

Sydney Sweeney is responding to the controversy surrounding her mother's 60th birthday party.

On Saturday, the actress shared photos of her mom Lisa's "hoedown" surprise birthday party that caused a commotion on social media after fans assumed that she was making a political statement.

"No better way to celebrate my momma than a surprise hoedown🤠" Sweeney captioned the post.

The Euphoria star included a video of partygoers dancing while wearing red baseball caps that read "Make Sixty Great Again," which some fans assumed was a nod to President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again."

Other snaps shared by the 24-year-old included a photo of an unidentified male wearing what fans assumed was a Blue Lives Matter design on his T-shirt.

A few hours after Sweeney shared pictures from the celebration, users and fans of the actress expressed their feelings about the party in question, with many noting that the hats were "MAGA" inspired, while others said it hinted at the family's political party affiliation.

Following the criticism, the White Lotus actress took to Twitter to address the situation.

She tweeted: "You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my mom's milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone and Happy Birthday Mom!"

Sweeney grew up in Idaho, where the milestone birthday party took place, according to PEOPLE. While the actress has never made any political statements, she did show support for the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.

Back in May of that year she tweeted, "We need to do better. The hate in this world needs to end. #BlackLivesMatter," along with a link that showed ways to help support the movement.
