Sydney Sweeney, who’s known for her long, luscious, and voluminous blonde hair, pulled a Billie Eilish and did a total beauty 180 at the 2024 Oscars, debuting a—gasp!—bob.

It seems every A-lister has a bob these days. But this is an entire hair transformation for Sweeney. The Anything but You star is so strongly associated with her long hair that when I saw the photos from the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, I had to do a double take. Was that really the woman I knew and loved from Euphoria? Yes, it was!

While Sweeney is almost unrecognizable as herself, she now bears a strong resemble to an Old Hollywood icon—especially while done up in her Vanity Fair Oscar Party glam and ensemble. Sweeney’s honey bombshell bob, which is so iconic it’s deserving is own Academy Award, is very much giving modern-day Marilyn Monroe. Seeing it worn with her cream white archival Marc Bouwer gown and classic French manicure, I’m almost wondering if the 26-year-old is gearing up for a Monroe bio-pic. But maybe that’s just me manifesting (probably).

Sweeney’s supermodel bob may be a classic style, but it’s especially on trend. Pro hairstylists anticipate that bombshell bobs like the supermodel bob and baroque bob will be everywhere this spring. As for how to style the trending chop? Take some notes from hairstylist Glen Oropeza, whom you might know from his Instagram handle @glencocoforhair; he created Sweeney’s look for the night.

First, Oropeza prepped Sweeney’s damp hair with Kerastase Chroma Absolu Serum Chroma Thermique and Premiere Serum Filler Fondamental. Then he blow-dried Sweeney’s hair using Kristin Ess Hair Soft Volume Blow-Dry brush, sectioning it off with Kristen Ess Do It All Sectioning Clips. He also went in with the blow-dry brush in smaller sections to curl the hair underneath at the ends.

For maximum volume, Oropeza then applied Kerastase Volume in Powder Texturizing Spray to create texture, then used the Kristin Ess 1.25-inch curling iron as if it was a round brush to curl the ends under to lock in the soft bounce. This is the best way to achieve a flipped bob, BTW.

Finally, to ensure maximum va-va-voom volume, Oropeza sprayed more Kerastase Volume In Powder Texturizing Spray while flipping Sweeney's hair, and applied generous amount of Kerastase Laque Extreme Hair Spray to finish off the look.

Sweeney’s color is similarly on vogue: Created by celebrity hairstylist and colorist Jacob Schwartz, the shade transitioned Sweeney from her previous bright blonde to a sultry dark suede blonde using Schwarzkopf’s demi-permanent Igora Vibrance line. To get the look at home, Schwarzkopf recommends using the Schwarzkopf Blonde Hi Lift in Almond Blonde.

Sweeney’s makeup was classic and glamorous as well. Celebrity makeup artist Melissa Hernandez created the look by prepping Sydney's skin with Laneige's Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask, followed by Glowy Makeup Serum and Water Bank Cream Moisturizer. As a very last step, she coated Sydney’s lips with the tried and true fan-favorite, Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry.

Hernandez then combined Armani Beauty's Lip Power Lipstick 104 (in Selfless) and 203 (in Mystery) for the perfect long-lasting lip shade, and applied Armani Beauty’s cult-favorite Luminous Silk Foundation, Concealer, Glow Setting Powder, Liquid Bronzer, Fluid Sheer Glow Enhancer., and Glow Blush for a flawless complexion.

For Sweeney’s eyes, Hernandez created a custom bronze shade by mixing Eye Tints 12 Gold Ashes, a gold copper, in a shimmer finish and 10 Senso brown, applying a soft wash over her eyelids. She then added depth in the outer corner using 30 (“Cedar") in matte to create a gradient haze, and applied 12 shimmer in the inner corner for a bright pop. “The warm hues perfectly contrasted the white silk of her gown, making the overall look feel balanced and beautiful,” Hernandez said in a press release.
