Swim season 2024: When do pools open in Staunton, Waynesboro, Augusta County? What you need to know

Pool season is almost here, with area swimming pools set to open Memorial Day weekend. Here's what you need to know:

Staunton:

Montgomery Hall Park Pool

  • Opens Saturday, May 25

  • Hours: Noon to 6:30 p.m.

  • Admission — 4 years and up $2; 3 years and younger free

  • Pool pass: 20 visits for $35

  • Pool party rental: $200, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., plus $50 per lifeguard. There is a two lifeguard minimum and more lifeguards may be required depending on the size of the party. Pool cannot be rented during public hours and is only available for rental on weekends.

Gypsy Hill Park Pool

  • Opens Saturday, May 25

  • Hours: Noon to 6:30 p.m.

  • Admission — 4 years and up $3; 3 years and younger free

  • Pool pass: 20 visits $50

  • Adult lap swim season pass: $35 (Sundays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.)

  • Pool party rental: $200, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., plus $50 per lifeguard. There is a two lifeguard minimum and more lifeguards may be required depending on the size of the party. Pool cannot be rented during public hours and is only available for rental on weekends.

Augusta County:

Natural Chimneys Pool

  • Opens Saturday, May 25

  • Admission — $4 per person (admission can be purchased from the Visitor Center with VISA, MasterCard, Discover, cash or check). Children 3 and under are free.

  • 10 and 20 visit pool passes for sale at a 10% discount of $36 and $72. One punch will be used per patron per visit to the pool.

  • The pool can be reserved for private rentals. Rentals are available on most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. between June 1 - August 18.

  • At least two weeks' notice is required for pool rentals.

  • Rental fee is $165 for up to 75 individuals (including non-swimmers).

  • Register online or over the phone at 540-245-5727.

Stuarts Draft Pool

  • Opens Saturday, May 25

  • Admission— $4 per person (only cash or check payments can be accepted). Children 3 and under are free.

  • 10 and 20 visit pool passes for sale at a 10% discount of $36 and $72. One punch will be used per patron per visit to the pool. Only cash or check payments can be accepted.

  • The pool can be reserved for private rentals. Rentals are available on most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. between June 7 - August 18.

  • At least two weeks' notice is required for pool rentals.

  • Rental fee is $165 for up to 50 individuals (including non-swimmers).

  • Register online or over the phone at 540-245-5727.

Waynesboro:

War Memorial Pool at Ridgeview Park

  • Open Saturday, May 25 at 1 p.m.

  • Hours: May 25-Aug. 4: Open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. (Memorial Day, May 27 1 to 7 p.m.)

  • Hours: Aug. 10-Aug. 31: Open weekends only, Saturdays 1 to 6 p.m., Sundays 1 to 5 p.m.

  • Last day of season Aug. 31

  • Admission — Adults (16 and over) $5, Youth (15 and younger) $3

  • Family Season Pass: $175 up to 5 people plus $25 for each additional member

  • Individual Pass: $85 per Adult (16-65yrs); $60 per Youth (Under 16) or Senior (65+)

  • Pool Punch Pass: $40 for adults for 10 passes, $25 for Children (Under 16) or Seniors (65+) for 10 passes

  • Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club (SMAC), which manages the pool, offers swim lessons Monday through Thursday mornings and evenings. They also offer a youth swim team. Contact Rob Rule at rrule3139@gmail.com for more information.
