Swifties Rally Behind Bills Kicker Tyler Bass After He Received Threats Over Chiefs Loss

After the Kansas City Chiefs won their game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, reports began circulating that Bills kicker Tyler Bass deactivated his social media accounts following an influx of hate mail and threats made by fans upset over the team's loss.

But now that Taylor Swift is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, her dedicated and loyal following has rallied around Bass with kindness, even organizing financial support for a Western New York-area animal adoption organization and shelter the 26-year-old NFL star previously volunteered at.

"Hey Swifties! So the Bills kicker clearly had a bad day on Sunday but we all have bad days and absolutely no one deserves the threats he was receiving. So here’s where we can come into play!" the viral social media post began. "He supports a local cat rescue in NY and they rely solely on donations! If you have any extra $$ and want to show some swiftie love too, here’s where you can do so!"

"(It’s also Olivia’s birthday so what better way to honor one of our fav cats )," they added, referencing one of Swift's beloved feline companions.

The Ten Lives Club also shared a statement defending Bass and citing the support from (presumably) Swifties on its Facebook page. "WE STAND WITH TYLER BASS. DON’T BULLY OUR FRIEND We just heard the terrible news that Tyler Bass is receiving threats after yesterday’s game and our phones are ringing off the hook from people who want to donate $22 to Ten Lives Club in Tyler’s name."

"Tyler doesn’t deserve any of the hate he’s receiving. He’s an excellent football player and an even better person who took the time to help our organization and rescue cats last year. Leave our friend alone," the org concluded.

Since the charitable sentiment went viral Tuesday evening, the Ten Lives Club has raised more than $155,000 via Facebook, its website, Venmo, and a $5,000 donation from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, club PR manager Kimberly LaRussa told CNN in an email.

Even Rachael Ray got in on it, promising her foundation and her pet food brand Nutrish would be donating a total of $30,000 to Ten Lives Club in a statement shared to Instagram on Wednesday.
