The Sweet Way Kate Middleton Paid Homage to Princess Diana at Baby Archie's Christening

Baby Archie was christened at Windsor Castle on Saturday, and although Meghan Markle and Prince Harry opted for a private event, they had some close relatives with them. Kate Middleton was among the select friends and family members who attended the intimate event, and she chose to do so while also paying a sweet tribute to Princess Diana: Middleton wore pair of earrings that Lady Di had actually worn to Prince Harry's own christening in 1984.

A family portrait that Meghan and Harry released on Saturday shows Middleton wearing a pink pussybow dress by Stella McCartney—a longtime favorite designer of hers—and a matching headband with magenta heels. It gave us some serious Blair Waldorf vibes and the whole look was perfect for such a personal family event. But eagle-eyed fans caught one important detail: Middleton also wore Princess Diana's Collingwood pearl and diamond earrings. Since Princess Diana had shown them off during Prince Harry's baptism, it made for a sweet tribute when Middleton brought them out for Baby Archie's big day.

Of course, it's not the first time Middleton has paid homage Princess Diana in some way: She has a long record of honoring Princess Diana's best fashion moments throughout the years. Middleton once wore a navy Alessandra Rich polka dot dress with an ivory collar that reminds many people of a polka dot number that Princess Diana was photographed in back in 1985. And the red Jenny Packham dress that Middleton wore just after Prince Louis was born was also extremely similar to the red, collared dress Princess Diana chose to wear when she did a photocall following Prince Harry's birth in 1984. Middleton has also worn a few tiaras and other pieces of jewelry that once belonged to her late mother-in-law, showing that she, along with the other royals, are keeping Lady Di's memory alive.
