A man’s photo capturing what he described as a “beautiful display of love” has gone viral for its sweet — literally — message.

On Monday, Brent Kelley made a pit-stop at a fast-food drive through for an ice cream treat. He was stunned, however, when he witnessed an elderly man feeding his wife. Kelley snapped a picture of the moment and shared it on Facebook, where the post has taken off, receiving more than 700,000 likes and nearly 300,000 shares.

“So today, I took the kids to the pool and we stopped for ice cream on the way home. When I got my ice cream and pulled out, I realized that this elderly man beside me was sitting out side his car door, spoon feeding his wife ice cream who also looked in her late eighties. He draped a towel over her and slowly fed his bride in the 98-degree temperature. It was a beautiful display of love,” Kelley wrote.

People have reacted positively to the sincere gesture the elderly man made towards his wife.

Despite all the love Kelley has received for sharing the photo there are some naysayers who feel Kelley invaded the couple’s privacy.

Posts like Kelley’s, which capture people performing simple acts with greater purpose, are not unusual — and elderly displays of affection, especially, often do not go unnoticed. For example, a senior citizen who is seen sweetly combing his wife’s hair while she sits in a Florida hospital bed recently went viral as well.

Kelley, who is a pastor, is using his newly found viral platform to share the message of love and compassion and his faith with his new Facebook friends.
