From Town & Country

The Swedish royals have had a busy couple of days. Over the weekend, Princess Madeleine served as a bridesmaid in her close family friend Louise Gottlieb's wedding to Gustav Thott, and tomorrow is little Princess Adrienne's christening at Drottningholm Palace.

But in the middle of the week, the royals celebrated Nationaldagen or National Day, by getting all decked out in their country's traditional garb.

The National Day of Sweden is a holiday which dates back to 1916 and pays tribute to both the election of King Gustav Vasa in 1523 and the adoption of a new constitution in 1809, both of which took place on June 6.

While the men wore suits in honor of the day, the women, including six-year-old Princess Estelle, commemorated the occasion in traditional blue and yellow dresses over collared blouses.

According to People, the striking hat the royal women wore is known as a Sverigedräkten, which Swedish princesses wear after they're married.

Unlike their British counterparts, the Swedish royals are a bit more open about social media. For example, Princess Madeleine posted a sweet photo on her personal Instagram account of the day.

And Carl Philip, who just recently made his account with his wife Princess Sofia public, did as well.
