Will There Be a Swarm Season 2?

Swarm, Amazon Prime Video's latest psychological thriller series produced by Donald Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino, features big names like Billie Eilish and Chloe Bailey. The show follows a young woman named Dre who is an obsessed superfan of Ni'Jah, a fictional popstar speculated to be based on Beyoncé. The character's similarities to Queen Bey, as well as the series' name being a spin on her fanbase called 'the BeyHive,' gives viewers the impression that Donald Glover may have taken some real-life inspo from Mrs. Knowles-Carter herself. It takes a dark look at stan culture and social media.

If you just finished watching Swarm and you're thinking to yourself, 'there's going to be a season two, right??' we've got some good news, and we've got some bad news, besties!

Will There Be a Swarm Season 2?

So, the bad news is that Amazon Prime Video hasn't announced if there will be a season two. But don't lose hope just yet. The good news is that there's reason to believe that this isn't the end for Swarm.

In an official press release and on the Swarm IMDB page, the show is listed as a TV series instead of a miniseries, which typically means that there are plans for future seasons. The series is also currently number one on Amazon Prime Video, surpassing the popular Daisy Jones and the Six, so considering how well it's doing it seems like it'd be a pretty good idea to do a season two.

Not to mention, where we left off at the end of season 1 definitely leaves room for continuation. The last two episodes show that Dre was either arrested after jumping on the stage at Ni'Jah's concert, or she gets invited to sing with her and join her in her private limo. If she did actually get arrested, there could be a prison break in season 2. Or if she was lucky enough to befriend Ni'Jah, maybe we'll watch Dre get dangerously close to her. While it definitely seems more likely that Dre would end up in jail rather than cozied up in that backseat with Ni'Jah, you truly do never know. And the only way we could find out is to hope for a season two 👀.
