I Swapped My Trendy Bed Sheets for This $50 Target Pair — and Now I Own Five Sets

Pink bedroom with matching sheets.

A few years ago I bought my first set of editor-favorite DTC sateen sheets, and I fell in love. They were so soft and I loved sleeping on them. However, a couple years later, the fitted sheet ripped. The company honored their warranty and sent me another pair, but within two years that flat sheet had ripped as well. I wasn’t willing to give up on the brand, so I bought one more set, and … well, I think you know where this is going.

Sheets may not last forever, but I sure expect them to last more than a few years. (I can’t be the only one with parents who have sheets that are decades old!) I started looking for new go-to sheets. I wanted comfortable, durable, and affordable, because by then I was also shopping for sheets for my kids’ rooms (two twin beds and a bunk bed) and our guest room.

That’s when I bought my first pair of Threshold sheets from Target and I’ve never looked back.

The first thing that drew me to this Target sheet set was the old-fashioned dot pattern. It had the exact traditional-style whimsy I was looking for in the girls’ rooms. I bought three twin sheet sets ($30 each) to start, but soon bought another twin set and a queen set because they’ve been great.

Here’s what I like about them: They’re made from 100% cotton that’s STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certified (important!), they’re thick but not rough, roomy enough for deep mattresses, and there are top and bottom labels so you never wonder what side goes where. They also wash and dry beautifully and —  crucially! — they have not ripped in the three years I’ve had them.

Plus, you just can’t beat the price, especially if you’re buying multiple sets. (Outfitting kids’ rooms and guest rooms adds up quickly!) Prices on these sheets range from $30 for a twin to $60 for a California king. There are also a dozen patterns to choose from. Sometimes the budget solution really is the best solution!
