'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star Sutton Stracke reacts to fans saying that the rest of the cast of protecting Erika Jayne

Sutton Stracke isn’t holding back during her first season as a full-time cast member on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

After joining the show last season as a friend of the cast, Sutton has further solidified herself as a formidable presence on Bravo this year, through both a classic Housewives feud with newcomer Crystal Kung Minkoff and by asking tough questions of co-star Erika Jayne as she goes through both a divorce and a headline-making lawsuit.

On this week’s episode of In The Know’s pop culture interview series “We Should Talk,” Sutton Stracke opened up about finally getting her diamond, what fans can expect from the ongoing Erika Jayne situation, her tiff with Crystal and the off-camera conversation that served as a “crossing over moment” for their relationship.

“I was just like, ‘When is it going to go away?’ After the ‘ugly leather pants’ [comment], I called her the next day. I was like, ‘I can’t. We can’t. I can’t keep doing this.’ It’s not in my nature to do that, and I don’t have relationships like that with women. I was like, ‘How can we solve this?'” Sutton told In The Know. “It was a really crossing over moment for the two of us. Unfortunately, it wasn’t on camera, because that was when we went into our COVID quarantine.”

Sutton Stracke on her off-camera conversation with Crystal Kung Minkoff: “At the time, [the drama] just would not go away. And, you know, I was just like, ‘When is it going to go away?’ After the ‘ugly leather pants’ [comment], I called her the next day. I was like, ‘I can’t. We can’t. I can’t keep doing this.’ It’s not in my nature to do that, and I don’t have relationships like that with women. I was like, ‘How can we solve this?’ It was a really crossing over moment for the two of us. Unfortunately, it wasn’t on camera, because that was when we went into our COVID quarantine. So, unfortunately, we didn’t get to have that on camera. […] It’s not as tense [after that], but we’re still trying to figure each other out a little bit. We still are. It’s much better, and that relieves me to no end. […] We’re still getting to know each other, so in that way it’s all good. It’s so funny, because we have a lot of friends in common and they love her. They’re like, ‘You’re gonna love her!’ I want to get to know her more, so I can see that side of her that’s not doing this all the time.”

Sutton Stracke on asking Erika Jayne the tough questions: “That weekend in La Quinta really did a 180. It just went [left] in an instant. It’s interesting that that can happen in life, and it can happen in friendships.”

Sutton Stracke on whether or not she thinks the rest of the cast is protecting Erika Jayne by not asking her the tough questions: “I mean, I think that, yeah. I think you can see it. But I also think that they have a very special bond, because they’ve known each other a long time. So, there was an instant protective glue with those girls, which I completely understand. Garcelle and I — and Crystal — we don’t know Erika in the way that those girls do, and we also haven’t known her for very long. Garcelle and I have known her for a year. Crystal has known her for a couple months at this point. So, I get it. It’s just not my perspective. I think that’s the biggest difference.”

Sutton Stracke on releasing an apology for her actions on the cast trip to Tahoe: “I felt really bad watching it when I didn’t let Crystal speak. Not only did she not get to speak and I didn’t get to listen, but the viewers didn’t get to listen. That was a bigger moment for me, that the viewers didn’t get to hear what she was going to say. […] I felt like, ‘Gosh, I’ve really got to speak on this and put something out there.’ I thought about it for a couple of days, and actually talked to one of my best friends about it, and she helped me write something from the heart, so that I could project out there what [I] thought needed to be said and to have a true apology.”

Sutton Stracke on the “ugly leather pants” moment: “I had reached my breaking point! I had had it. Every now and then you reach your breaking point, and I had reached it and it flew out of my mouth. I don’t know what it even meant, but it just came out. They weren’t my favorite, and she dresses really well! Listen, we all make mistakes. I do it all the time. Who knows!”

Sutton Stracke on Kathy Hilton on this season: “Thank god for Kathy, because some of those moments between me and Crystal, I think, were going to be very, very intense, and she broke them with her wacky humor. […] We got to see the relaxed Kathy, and not the socialite Kathy. That was the cool part, that she allowed herself to be [that way], because it would’ve been very easy to be the proper [version of herself], because that’s something that I’ve relied a lot on in life. And she just didn’t! To see both sides of her, and the more I’ve spent time with her, the more sides that I get to see. She’s such a great person.”
