Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia’s Bachelorette contestants simply could not stop coming for Clayton Echard on Monday’s premiere episode, by which I mean at least five of them hopped out of their limo and immediately trolled him. Quick refresher:

“Hear me out, I know what it looks like. I am not Clayton.” —man dressed as clown

“I hear the last man you dated, he was kind of a fluke, I think his name was...he’s a piece of shit.”

“My name is Hayden and I know that does sound a lot like Clayton, but what I’m going to do differently is think with this head and not that one.”

Plus, can’t forget about the literal children’s choir that arrived to sing “Clayton sucks” repeatedly.

And while Clayton seemed pretty unbothered during the episode itself, tweeting this...

He and Susie Evans spoke to Kaitlyn Bristowe on her Off the Vine podcast, and Susie didn’t seem thrilled.

“Clayton handled it better, overall, than I did. I was annoyed,” Susie said, per Us Weekly. “Like come on. Clayton has given, you know, he can laugh at himself and I can laugh at Clayton.…And I can laugh at myself. But also, my fear is, like, ‘Does this open the floodgates back up of all the hate and stuff?’ So that’s where I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, really?’ But Clayton, definitely was, like, going with the flow.…He was able to laugh.”

Clayton also clarified that while yeah, he was able to laugh, he also has some concerns about bullying:

“Do I think that it’s that’s what should have been shown? I mean, no. I do think it was cyberbullying or an attack or it’s going to lead to cyberbullying,” he said. “And so for that, I’m not the biggest fan of how that was shown, but it was and like you said, it’s just the nature of the beast. I’m gonna lose sleep over this point anymore. If I start giving more power to people that have no interest in my passions and they’re gonna try to just pull me off this path that I’m now on and I’m full steam ahead on, to me it’s as simple as just ignore it. Let it pass because…I’m not going to give people power that should have no power over me.”

For what it’s worth, even Rachel and Gabby seemed over Clayton’s name being nonstop mentioned, with Rachel telling cameras, “These guys keep bringing up Clayton and I think Gabby and I are okay with not hearing Clayton’s name again tonight.”
