It’s been over two decades, and we still can’t get enough of Survivor. There have been 40 seasons of beautiful tropical locations, and players struggling through physical and mental challenges while well, surviving, with minimal materials and tools.

Last year, Winners At War brought back previous players to take a stab at a second win. And this time, the reward was increased from its regular $1 million, to a whopping $2 million. Tony Vlachos took home the money in a strategic play against some of the best Survivor contestants the show has ever seen, including Boston Rob and Sophie Clark.

It was also the show’s 20th season. The show brought back wild twists, including the Edge of Extinction, where removed players had a chance to come back in the game, and Fire Tokens, which players could use to purchase perks.

This season marks the 21st year of Survivor, and it looks like there’ll be new elements added into the show, like fan participation. According to Entertainment Weekly, host Jeff Probst says fans will have “a game within the game” they can play at home, in case anyone wants to practice their Survivor skills before applying to be on the show. Plus, he revealed fans may even know information about the season before the players do. Sounds like some good television.

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming 41st season of Survivor.

When does season 41 of Survivor air?

The new season of Survivor premieres on CBS at 8 p.m. ET. on September 22, 2021. For anyone who doesn’t have cable, the season will also drop on Paramount+ after each episodes air live.

Who are the players?

There’s 18 islanders set to make their Survivor debut. One notable player is Danny McCray, a retired NFL player for the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears. The season will also be shortened down to 26 days instead of the regular 39 days spent on the island. Entertainment Weekly says it was due to the production crew adhering to COVID-19 restrictions.

Although the time on the island is shortened, Probst says it only makes the game more intense. "The pace is absolutely relentless," Probst says. "The game design has never been so dangerous."
