It was a family day out for the Waleses today! Prince William and Kate Middleton brought their three kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—to the Royal International Air Tattoo, a military air show at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England. The Prince of Wales has a personal connection to todays visit: he served with the RAF (Royal Air Force) as a search and rescue pilot. Now, William is the Honorary Air Commodore of RAF Coningsby and Kate is the Honorary Air Commodore of the Air Cadets.
Here, see all the best photos from the surprise family outing:
It was a rainy day as they arrived at RAF Fairford.
Prince George shook hands with one of the military men who greeted them. He looks almost as tall as Kate here!
Prince Louis, too, is learning the art of the royal handshake.
They did not let the rain bother them as they walked in.
Prince Louis seemed very ready to go explore.
The Wales family were in sync as they boarded a C17 place during their visit to the Air Tattoo.
Prince Louis looked unimpressed as he sat in a vehicle on the plane.
He did give a wave to the photographers.
Princess Charlotte wore a striped dress and braids in her hair.
Prince George looked very grown up next to his parents.
He even got to try out one of the controls: Raising the plane's ramp.
Princess Charlotte listened intently as a serviceman pointed something out.
In the background, you can see Charlotte (left) and Louis (right) taking in something on the ceiling.
Prince William pointed out a display to his kids—it seems to be about the the C-17 Globemaster III, which carried Queen Elizabeth's coffin to London from Edinburgh.
William looked back at his kids as they exited.
Prince William waved to the gathered crowds.
As they disembarked the plane, Prince Louis ran ahead of his family.
