Surprise! Halle Bailey Welcomes Baby No. 1 & Reveals His Angelic Name

Halle Bailey is officially a mom — and she decided to announce the birth of her firstborn on her own terms. After months of denying pregnancy rumors, The Little Mermaid star took to Instagram over the weekend to reveal that she welcomed her baby boy at the end of 2023 with rapper DDG (born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.).

“even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son..” Bailey wrote on Instagram. She also revealed his angelic name, “welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨”

Halo is such a beautiful name, and one that means “divine aura.” Of course, a halo is also the ring of light that angels are said to have over their heads. And baby Halo is in good company: Nick Cannon also chose the heavenly name for his daughter Halo Marie, 1, who he welcomed with model Alyssa Scott.

Bailey also referenced the world’s obsession with her baby bump in her caption. “the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️,” she quipped, seemingly referring to all the rumors that have been swirling around since she wore a flowy orange gown to the 2023 MTV VMAs in September. She has since been photographed in oversized clothing multiple times, but has denied pregnancy rumors every time.

In her announcement, she shared a glimpse of her baby boy, wearing a gold “Halo” bracelet and holding his mama’s hand. The post has over 3.75 million likes and tons of sweet comments.

“No but I don’t know why people is like so invested…mind your business,” he said. “Whatever’s going on in my life or her life is not going to change yours. Let’s try to lock in on ourselves in 2024. Not other people.”

It’s good advice! Even though the rumors were right and Bailey was pregnant, it still doesn’t excuse people harassing her about it. Let people announce their baby news in their own time, OK?

Congratulations to this family of three!
