Suri Cruise Is Her Mama's Daughter, All the Way Down to Her Katie Holmes-Inspired Casual Cool Girl Style

Suri Cruise has people everywhere asking, “Katie Holmes, is that you?”
On Sunday, the 17-year-old daughter of the Dawson’s Creek alum stepped out for a solo stroll in New York City, and she looked like the spitting image of her famous mama — right down to her effortlessly cool style.

Wearing her long, chocolate-colored mane in a messy but chic ponytail, Cruise looked laid-back in ribbed gray sweatpants, a loose white tee, a navy corduroy jacket with a shearling collar, and camel-colored clogs. She also wore a dainty pair of dangling earrings and carried a hot pink water bottle to match a bubblegum-colored barrette in her hair — this Barbie is cool, casual, and hydrated.

Protection Through Privacy
As she’s neared adulthood, Cruise has increasingly been seen in public both with and without her mom — though she has yet to make her official red carpet debut alongside Holmes. Before the First Daughter star’s 2012 divorce from Tom Cruise, Suri was occasionally photographed alongside her parents. In the decade since Holmes distanced herself from the controversial actor, the actress not only became increasingly protective of her only daughter, but Tom has also not had any contact with Suri since Holmes ended their marriage. His estrangement from their daughter is largely speculated to be due to his affiliation with Scientology.
Of her choice to keep Suri out of the limelight for most of her life, Holmes told Glamour, “What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her. I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person,” the single mom proudly gushed.
As a bonafide style icon for women of several generations and a regular attendee of the world’s most prominent fashion events, perhaps we’ll see Holmes hit New York, Paris, or London Fashion Week with her daughter in tow — keep your fingers crossed for an iconic sighting this fall.
