Surf Skaters Teased in Comical Satire Video (Watch)

There’s long been a connection between surfing and skateboarding.

Going back to Dogtown and the Z-Boys, who famously brought their surf style to the concrete, thus revolutionizing skateboarding; then flash-forward to today, the roles have reversed, and surfers look to skaters for style inspiration and aerial innovation.

But somewhere along the line, a cringe, admittedly kooky hybrid emerged: surf skating.

In a new video from New Zealand surfer and funnyman, Luke Cederman, the guy behind the satirical surf account Raglan Surf Report, the surf skate craze is mocked through the lens of a fictional Surfline for the fringe, crossbreed “sport.”

Cederman takes it away:

“Luckily for us surf skaters, we’re finally being recognized and treated like the surfers that we are pretending to be.

“You can utilize SurfSkateLine’s Cam Rewind feature to show all of your friends just how good you are at pretending to surf.

“Thanks to SurfSkateLine’s livestreaming cams, I always have the information I need to pick the right surf skate spot at the right time. It’s just like Surfline, but for people that pretend to surf.”

Then, cutting to one of the local surf skate spots to check the “conditions,” Cederman says:

“Look at that! That’s like four to six…cones! You should have seen it yesterday, man. It was exactly the same. Because it’s concrete!”

Once commenter on the video posted:

“I’ve never been so pumped to pretend to surf!”

The last time we saw Cederman, he shared a video taking a jab at the day in the life of a pro surfer – which, in his words, entails:

“Most people think that being a pro surfer is easy. But there’s so much more to it than just surfing really good and having an over-inflated sense of entitlement.”

Jokes…surfing needs more of ‘em.
