Supreme's New Barbour Collab Is as Old-School as Supreme Gets

Supreme and Barbour are teaming up. For its spring-summer collection, the big-time skate brand has tapped the iconic British label for a range of jackets and accessories. Since 1894, the family-owned Barbour has made rugged outerwear for everyone from sailors and fishermen to preppy East Coast college students—a wide range, to be sure, but a world away from the hype-heavy realm of streetwear. The only thing that could make the Barbour’s gear more covetable is Supreme’s magic touch—and that is precisely what you're getting with this collaboration.

Some of Barbour’s most recognizable garments are the brand’s waxed cotton jackets—the Bedale model being perhaps the most iconic. Designed in the 1980s, the jacket has long since become a staple in Barbour’s season-to-season offerings. Fast forward a few decades, and the rugged-looking style is as beloved today as way back when. Accordingly, Supreme has worked with the British brand on a collection centered around a lightweight waxed cotton field jacket heavily inspired by the Bedale. And then, Supreme being Supreme, they did it up in gnarly leopard and blaze-orange colorways. Not exactly the kind of thing you'd wear on a grouse hunt, but still the kind of jacket you'd be stoked to wear just about anywhere else. The capsule is rounded out with a waist bag, bucket hat, and camp hat—this might be a collaboration with an old-school heritage brand, but it's still a Supreme drop.

This collaborative collection, which is set to drop on May 7, is Supreme doing what Supreme does best: taking a classic style from a legacy brand like Barbour and remixing it into something entirely new. You don’t typically see a timeless waxed cotton jacket in a shade of tangerine orange or done up with bold leopard print—which is precisely the point. Though we're pretty sure Princess Di would have rocked one.
