Fictional brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles respectively, garnered a cult following for their work on the hit series, Supernatural, from 2005 to 2020, along with other beloved members of the stellar cast.

The beloved duo led the series as monster-slaying brothers, who take down numerous sinister creatures over the course of the series after their mother was killed by a supernatural force — trained by the skill of their father, played by none other than the hunky Jeffrey Dean Morgan (see him and others in this list of 17 Handsome Silver Foxes Who Only Get Better With Age).

The show ran for a total of 15 seasons with a total of 327 episodes. In a 2019 interview with Us Weekly ahead of the show's end, Jared Padalecki shared that what he'd miss most about the series was his costars. "We really have become a family," Padalecki said. “Over 15 years, we’ve cut the fat. We didn’t fire anybody, but if they didn’t like being there, they move on. So the people that are there want to be there.”

Padalecki continued: “We’ve known them for 15 years; we’ve seen births and deaths and divorces and marriages. I mean, I met my wife in season 4 and we have three kids! So much has happened. I feel such a deep connection with everybody."

Today, three years since the show's finale, let's take a look at the Supernatural cast and see what they've been up to since the show's end.

Jared Padalecki might be known to most for his role in the Supernatural cast as Sam Winchester, but you might also recognize him for his roles throughout the early 2000s on shows like Gilmore Girls (2000-2007) as Dean, and films like New York Minute (2004) and House of Wax (2005). Since his role as Sam came to its conclusion, Padalecki has starred as Cordell Walker in the CW series, Walker (2021-present), which has been renewed for a 4th season.

"I still am grieving Supernatural. I really am. It was 15 and a half years," Padalecki told Collider in 2021. "I met my wife on the show. I met my dear friend, and many dear friends. I really enjoyed Sam Winchester. So, I’m still grieving that process."

"Ultimately, Supernatural was such a big part of my life. There’s no real way to calculate it, and I don’t think I’ll ever really grasp that or make sense of it. But I love, love, love the show I’m doing now [Walker]. I love the character, I love the cast, I love our crew, and I love the stories we are setting out to tell."

Especially after being on the show for six seasons now, the fun, for me, is a testament to the writing. It’s such an amazing group of writers."

Sheppard continued, "Over the last six seasons, they’ve all massaged and played and tricked and sewn this great character together, from all the different sums of his parts. There’s a great new angle on Crowley, as we go into each season. There’s always something new to explore, and there’s always something new to play with. I’m very grateful to them for continuing to relish the character the way they do."

I love going to work every day and having that as my purpose in life...The biggest challenge for me working on the show was not working! It would be the in-between times and all the other stuff around the business and real life that is challenging."
