Superman: Legacy To Enter Production Early 2024

James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy will begin production in early 2024, now that the Hollywood strikes have finally lifted.

Superman: Legacy will begin filming in March 2024, with a release date pencilled in for June 11, 2025, according to Deadline. Superman: Legacy will be the first movie in Gunn’s DC Universe, and will follow his animated series Creature Commandos.

Superman: Legacy stars David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. It’s going big on supporting superhero characters too, adding Nathan Fillion in the role of Guy Gardner, one of the Green Lantern Corp, with Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabella Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mr Terrific.

It’s expected to be another retelling of the Superman myth, and will set up the character ahead of other movies in Gunn’s DC Universe, including Batman’s The Brave and the Bold.

James Gunn has almost completely gutted the previous DC Comics Universe, with only a few actors remaining in their roles. Instead, he intends to start afresh with Creature Commandos and build the universe out from there.

While some actors won't be returing to their roles, they may return to play different characters. Jason Momoa, who starred as Aquaman, looks like a perfect fit for DC bountyhunter Lobo. Indeed, there are rumours Lobo may make an appearance in Superman: Legacy.
