Supergirl Movie Casts House of the Dragon Star

DC’s upcoming Supergirl movie has its lead: Milly Alcock.

The actress, who plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon, reportedly impressed in her screen tests.

DC co-head James Gunn wrote on Instagram: “Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I'm incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by @tomking_tk, @bilquis and Ana Nogueira.”

It was a close one, as the Supergirl casting narrowed down to 2 actresses.

Supergirl’s first appearance will be in 2025’s Superman: Legacy. After, she’ll star in her own standalone movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

While the release date for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow hasn’t been confirmed, it’s expected to hit cinemas some time in 2027.
