'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' Trailer Has Officially Dropped

Nintendo and Universal Pictures has officially dropped The Super Mario Bros. official trailer.

The film is the first cinematic foray for the beloved Italian cartoon plumber, expanding Mario's adventures over the past three decades. The film sees Super Mario, voiced by Chris Pratt, find where he fits in the Mushroom Kingdom. The new trailer also gives fans a first glimpse of Anya Taylor-Joy as she voices Princess Peach.

Second to Pokémon the Super Mario franchise is Nintendo's second most profitable IP. In 1993, the company faced a box office bomb when they released the 1993 Super Mario Bros. live-action. This time around, they stuck to animations, bringing a stunning continuation of the storyline to the cinemas. The film is said to bring many aspects of the origin story including kart racing, Tanooki suits and fire flowers. Seth Rogen is said to voice Donkey Kong, while Fred Armisen would show up as Cranky Kong. Other actors a part of the star-studded crew include Keegan-Michael Key as Toad and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

The Super Mario Bros. releases in theaters on April 7, 2023.
