Even though she's a personal trainer, Simone Gately battles critics who say she looks too fit to be a mom. Instagram users accuse the 35-year-old of lying about giving birth to five children.
The British parent had all of her kids within a span of six years: Summer, 10; Chester, 8; Blossom, 7; India, 6; and Minnie, 3. Even with a crowd of toddlers, Gately finds time to work out twice a day and share her life on a popular Instagram account. Despite her positive posts, commenters harass the mom based on her physique, the Daily Mail reports.
Others accuse of her being "self-obsessed" and a "narcissist," but Gately insists she's an average parent. "I am like any other normal mum who works and juggles the busy lives of her children," she told the Daily Mail. "My day starts at 6 a.m. with some sort of run or walk and includes the school run, helping with homework, running to the store, organizing parties and activities, while also managing to squeeze in a workout at home."
Although trolls question Gately's story, other parents find inspiration in her commitment to fitness and her kids. "I could have never imagined a job so hard yet so rewarding as motherhood, until I experienced it for myself and I only have two," one fan wrote. "You definitely inspire me to get back on the wagon and keep going with my healthy choices and exercise."
While many women share their admiration for her body, Gately stresses that post-pregnancy weight gain is okay. "Women shouldn't feel pressure to spring back into shape straight after having babies and should take time to settle into motherhood," she told the Daily Mail. But for those who are ready to hit the gym again, she does have some advice.
"Living healthy is all about balance, variety and positivity, which is not always easy to achieve but remember what your goals are and keep making small steps towards them," she recently wrote on Instagram. "If you have a bad day, bad week or bad month, just draw a line under it and move forward."
