This Sunset Blush Trend Is the Secret to a Stunning Spring Makeup Look

This spring and summer, it's time to embrace the sunset in your makeup with the viral "sunset blush" technique which requires the use of two liquid blush shades and a liquid highlighter or illuminator.

You'll want to grab a hot pink, orange or yellow blush and start by first applying two dots of the pink shade, followed by two dots of the orange shade. Next, apply a swipe of the highlighter directly above the blush dots but be sure not to overlap the products. Finally, gently blend out the products and pull the blush up slightly above the tail end of your eyebrows to accentuate the highly-pigmented and gorgeous gradient makeup look.

The trend looks beautiful on every skin tone, as shown by the numerous videos of content creators trying and remixing the technique with different colors on social media. The trend originated with influencer Alissa Janay, who wrote in an Instagram caption that she used e.l.f. Cosmetics Camo Liquid Blush in the shades "Comin in Hot Pink" and "Gorg Orange." The blush shades can be purchased on the brand's website for $7 USD.

She also used Milani Cosmetics Strobelight Liquid Highlighter in the shade "Pure Gold" to create the shimmery sunset effect. The highlighter is available on the brand's Amazon storefront for $20 USD.
