Sunday River Calling For "Serious" Snow Totals This Week

"This isn't a prank folks." Following the April's Fools Day announcements from various members of the ski industry, people almost thought Sunday River's snow forecast was some kind of joke that was too good to be true.

16-22 inches is predicted to fall near Bethel, a town near Sunday River. See below.

The Weather Channel predicts snow and rain starting as early as tomorrow, continuing through Saturday, and then sunny conditions starting Sunday.

Monday looks like the only day of true sun, the other days are partly cloudy (so bring your lens switch-outs)!

Tonight, the low is predicted to be around 30 degrees, according to NOAA.

Tomorrow, the chance of precipitation is 30%, with some gusts of wind as high as 30 mph.

Wednesday night, the news we've all been waiting for: snow accumulation of 7 to 11 inches possible. This is followed by another 5 to 9 inches on Thursday, and then 1 to 3 more inches to dust things off on Thursday night.

Friday, things switch up, with snow before 11am, and then rain and snow as the temps will be in the upper 30s.

Saturday, the higher temps continue, with precipitation as high as 50%.

Things clear up after that, meaning no more rain or snow.

All in all, the mid-week is looking the most promising. Although normally we'd complain about rain, it is April, so this is still exciting for Spring skiing conditions.

Conditions otherwise include a base depth of 30 inches on average, with 80 groomed trails and 6 terrain parks.

Whether the forecast holds up or not is not 100% certain, but it is close, so at this point, there's a solid chance for a late season dumping at Sunday River.
