Sundance Resort Reveals Opening Day Trails, Begins Paid Parking

Sundance Mountain Resort, Utah, has revealed its plans for opening day.

The resort will start spinning its lifts this Saturday, December 2nd, with multiple chairs and runs on tap. Paid parking will go into effect during opening day. Complimentary parking spots are available in the upper lots for those driving vehicles with four or more passengers.

Opening day lifts include the Outlaw Express from the midway point down and Jake's Lift, alongside three magic carpets. Freestylers, you're covered, too. Sundance is constructing a temporary terrain park on Lower Stampede.

The following runs will be open: Upper Stampede, Center Isle, Lower Stampede, Bandit, Outlaw Trail, Red Canyon, and Lower Maverick.

As is ski resort tradition, Sundance will distribute treats and swag on opening day. The first few hundred skiers in line at the Outlaw Express and Jake's Lift will receive free donuts and t-shirts.

Night skiing starts on December 15th. Sundance noted that it can't open its Nordic trails until more natural snow arrives.

Another reminder shared by Sundance: "Early season conditions will exist, and we anticipate there being high number of skiers and snowboarders being on the mountain, so we encourage everyone to ride carefully and with caution." I'd take that kernel of wisdom with you regardless of where you plan to ski in the coming weeks -- those early season days can be hectic.

While it's a bit early to claim exact snowfall totals for the end of the week, NOAA predicts that a storm should arrive at Sundance on Friday. I'd hesitate to suggest that you bring your powder boards along for opening day, but keep those eyes trained on the forecast. You Sundance locals might be in for some freshies this weekend.
