Summer's on the way. Here's when Springfield's outdoor public pools open

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that all pools in Springfield open on Saturday, May 25. The pools will open on varying days over Memorial Day weekend.

Wanting to take a dip in Springfield this summer? You're in luck — the Springfield-Greene County Park Board will begin opening the city's pools Memorial Day weekend. Grant Beach, Meador, and Westport pools will open Saturday, May 25. Fassnight Pool, Silver Springs Pool, and McGee-McGregor wading pool will open Sunday, May 26.

Here's how to get in before the season ends on Sept. 2, and which pools are open on which days.

Springfield outdoor pool admission, season passes, and coupon books

Prices for outdoor swimming pools in Springfield are:

  • Free at McGee-McGregor wading pool, which is only for swimmers under 6 years of age and their adults.

  • Free for swimmers ages 2 years and below.

  • $4 for youth ages 3 through 17.

  • $5 for adults ages 18 through 59.

  • $1 per person with a canned food donation every day after 5:30 p.m. and during Splash & Sizzle events

Digital outdoor pool season passes are also available now, allowing unlimited entry into both outdoor and indoor pools. Passes are valid seven days a week at outdoor pools, 1-6:30 p.m. and Monday-Thursday, 1-8 p.m. for indoor pools. Season passes are valid for entry for an individual or family for the 2024 summer season, May 25-September 2.

Purchase season passes at Chesterfield, Doling, or Dan Kinney family centers, or online. A photo ID is required to purchase an outdoor pool season pass, and a photo will be taken of each pass holder. Scholarships may also be available through the Park Board Youth Recreation Scholarship Fund. Prices are:

  • $80 for youth and seniors (ages 3-17 and seniors age 60 and older)

  • $100 for adults ages 18-59

  • $225 per family (includes up to four individuals, no more than two of which may be older than 18. For larger families, $25 per additional child)

You can also purchase a coupon book with 30 coupons per book. Coupons allow entry into both outdoor and indoor pools through the summer season. Coupons are valid seven days a week, 1-6:30 p.m. at outdoor pools and Monday-Thursday, 1-8 p.m. at outdoor pools. You can purchase a coupon book at Chesterfield or Doling family centers, or the main Parks Administration Office. Prices are:

  • $80 for youth and seniors (ages 3-17 and seniors age 60 and older)

  • $100 for adults ages 18-59

  • $90 per family (10 adult and 20 youth/senior coupons)

When are Springfield's public outdoor pools open?

Springfield has six public outdoor pools, which are open on various days throughout the summer. Regular hours are 1-6:30 p.m., with the exception of McGee-McGregor, which has hours of 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 3-6 p.m.

  • Fassnight Pool, 1305 S. Main Ave., is open Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 1-6:30 p.m.

  • Grant Beach Pool, 1401 N. Grant St., is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 1-6:30 p.m.

  • Meador Pool, 2600 S. Fremont Ave., is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 1-6:30 p.m.

  • McGee-McGregor Pool, 710 E. Bennett St., is open Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 3-6 p.m.

  • Silver Springs Pool, 1100 N. Hampton Ave., is open Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 1-6:30 p.m.

  • Westport Pool, 3125 W. Lincoln St., is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 1-6:30 p.m.

Special events at the pool this summer

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is also hosting a number of events at public pools this summer. These events are:

  • Monday, May 27: Memorial Day Splash & Sizzle Swimming at Fassnight & Silver Springs, 1-6:30 p.m.

  • Wednesday, June 19: Juneteenth Splash & Sizzle Swimming at Grant Beach, Meador & Westport, 1-6:30 p.m.

  • Thursday, June 20: World's Largest Swim Lesson at Grant Beach Pool

  • Thursday, July 4: Independence Day Splash & Sizzle Swimming at Fassnight & Silver Springs, 1-6:30 p.m.

  • Monday, August 5: National Night Out Splash & Sizzle Swimming at Meador, 5-7 p.m.

  • Monday, September 2: Labor Day Splash & Sizzle Swimming at Fassnight, 1-6:30 p.m.
