Summer's Biggest (and Most Questionable) Trend Is Now $1 at Old Navy

It's only for 24 hours, so don't let this deal...flop.

Normally, the shoes you envision with your silk, spaghetti-strapped dresses, and printed skirts are a pair of slide sandals (or even chunky ones) or your favorite pair of kicks. Naturally, your flip flops are usually reserved for beach days, quick bodega runs, or getting a pedicure. This summer though, scratch all you think you know about flip flops and get ready to behold the biggest (and most questionable) trend of the season. Tie-dye who?

At first, we spotted this trend during Etro's, Dion Lee's and Tibi's Spring/Summer 2019 runways, then it trickled down to street style stars during Copenhagen fashion week, and now we see it every so often on our Instagram feeds. No longer are these plastic (or leather) sandals paired with shorts, kaftans, and bathing suits, but with polished suits, mini dresses with statement sleeves, biking shorts, and flowy skirt and tee combinations.

However, instead of dropping way too much money on well, flip flops... Old Navy has you covered, as per usual. Their most anticipated sale of the summer is here. Yes, their $1 flip flop sale or how they adequately call it, $1 Dolla Balla Flip Flop Sale. Ever since 2005, the retailer has been marking the beginning of summer with this sale. Last year, it was the first time the sale was available online as well as IRL, and this year they added yet another layer to this plastic-filled deal: sweepstakes. For 24 hours, if you find a golden flip flop online or in stores you get a chance to win $24K. Upon finding the 24K flip flop, you can enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win the $24K grand prize and will receive a 24% off code (online) or $24 coupon (in-stores).

So, if you needed any incentive for trying out this questionable (yet comfortable) trend, this sale has your name written all over it. Whether you want a classic black pair that will surely go with everything in your closet or a bright yellow or red pair to have fun with, you can scoop up to 10 $1 pairs of flip flops per transaction in-stores and five pairs per transaction online (solid colors only). Just be prepared to be told, 'What are those?" a few times. But when it happens you can just show them this article.
