Over the past year, we've seen brands launch intensive lines catered to a healthy scalp, driving home the idea of caring for your hair's foundation first. Rizos Curls is the latest brand to release a trifecta system to nourish your scalp and curls at once.

The brand's newly released Detox Scalp Scrub ($28), Vitamin C Hair Repair Mask ($30), and Nourish Oil for Hair, Scalp, and Body ($25) were created to help improve your hair health, and I took them for a spin. About my hair: Curly and color treated

I've kept my hair blonde for the past three years, so I am always gravitating to any products that can help repair my damaged curls, reduce frizz, and create an easy wash day that sets my hair for success during the week. I've recently tinted my hair, so I'm trying to use products that won't strip the color, add vibrancy, and can help with moisture and overall health.

The Process: An intensive breakdown

The Rizos Curl routine starts with the Detox Scalp Scrub, which is recommended to use before you shampoo. The formula is packed with aloe vera, pink clay, peppermint oil, moringa oil, and arnica extract to exfoliate the scalp, remove product build-up, and soothe itchiness. I scooped a handful of the scrub into my hands, and the thick, soupy texture reminded me of a body or bath scrub.

To apply, I raked it over my scalp and massaged it into my roots with the Rizos Curls Pink Scalp Massage Brush. The scrub has a faint peppermint scent that isn't too overwhelming and doesn't linger. As I massaged the product into my scalp, I loved that it wasn't harsh or abrasive but created a soft lather, which is different from other scalp scrubs I've tried.

When I rinsed out the scrub, my hair felt drier than usual, so I continued with Rizo's Hydrating Shampoo ($20), which replenished my curls after feeling stripped. Then I applied the mask, which has a creamy consistency and refreshing scent thanks to citrus oils, vitamin C, shea butter, and apple extract. I combed the mask through my strands and let it sit for 15 minutes to coat my curls evenly. When I washed it out, my hair was noticeably softer and defined.

I followed with my usual styling products to complete my routine, finishing with the nourishing oil, which is a multi-purpose hydrator. I coated my hair with a few drops and massaged the rest into my skin which didn't leave a greasy residue.

The Results: Frizz-free curls

Overall, I was happy with the soft, voluminous, and frizz-free results using the Rizo trio. I live in Texas, and it can be challenging to maintain defined, nourished curls with the humidity, so I was pleased that I got a few days of wear from my style.

The Value: A lot of bang for your buck

Still, I recommend choosing which products to use based on your individual needs, whether that's to improve your scalp health, hydrate your hair, or add some shine to your curls.
