‘Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard’ star Jordan Emanuel talks friendship, romance and house votes

Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard wasted no time delivering the laughs, the tears and the drama during its first several episodes on Bravo, and model-DJ Jordan Emanuel has been right in the thick of the action.
During the beginning of the series’ first season, Jordan has been dealing with changes in her friendship with co-star Jasmine Cooper, who’d just gotten married two months prior to filming, in addition to navigating potential romances in the house as she builds stronger friendships with other housemates.
For the latest episode of In The Know’s pop culture interview series We Should Talk, Jordan opened up about her first reality TV experience, what it’s been like facing challenges in some of her closest friendships, the pressure the cast feels as a group of young Black people on TV, what she thinks about the constant house votes to kick people out and much more.
“You’ll get to see us have some tough conversations — some necessary conversations — about what we’re doing, where we’re at, her expectations and what that looks like for me and vice versa. Any time there’s a shift in somebody’s personal life, of course, friendship dynamics are going to change,” Jordan told ITK about her friendship with Jasmine, alluding to her marrying Silas. “Especially when you’re adding a new family member, it’s like, ‘Well, this is my family too, so what’s going on?’ Navigating that has been a challenge for both of us, and it continues to be. In full disclosure, it continues to be a challenge for us. We’re working at it, because it’s important to us both. We can only just hope for the best and continue to put that hard work in.”
