Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse are among the more private couples of Hollywood, but their sweetness and chemistry are heartwarmingly apparent.
The actor and singer met through mutual friends and were first linked back in 2018. Since then, their relationship has yielded a slew of romantic dates, casual outings, sweet public statements, engagement rumors, and a glamorously affectionate red-carpet debut.

March 26, 2024: They welcome their first child.
Waterhouse and Pattinson confirm the birth of their first child together by taking a low-key walk with their newborn in a stroller, according to photos published by the Daily Mail. The couple has yet to publicly speak out about the birth, nor have the actor and singer confirmed their child’s gender and name.
November 19, 2023: Suki confirms her pregnancy.
The singer takes the stage in Mexico City for the Corona Capital 2023 Music Festival, and shows off her baby bump in a dazzling purple minidress and shimmery gold boots, plus a cropped fur jacket. “I thought I’d wear something sparkly to distract you from something else I’ve got going on,” she says while cradling her belly. “I’m not sure it’s working.”
This will be the couple’s first child together.
February 21, 2023: Suki gushes over her and Robert’s relationship.
Waterhouse divulges intimate new details surrounding her relationship with Pattinson in a profile interview with The Times, revealing that she and the actor have been inseparable and that she still feels a spark whenever she sees or hears from him, even after nearly five years.
"I had two days off the other day, and it was like, no question I’m going back to see him. Then he’ll come out for a couple of days,” Waterhouse says. “I’m shocked that I’m so happy with someone for nearly five years.”
She continues, “I’m always incredibly excited when I see his name pop up [on my phone] or even a text, and I think he feels the same about me. We’ve always got so much to say, and I find him hilarious.”
Waterhouse—who grew up in a similarly well-off neighborhood as Pattinson’s in southwest London—also shares that she never expected to date someone from his borough.
“We always say that I never, ever would have thought I’d go out with a boy from Barnes,” she says, “and he didn’t think he’d go out with a girl from Chiswick.”
December 3, 2022: They make their official red-carpet debut.
For the first time in the now-four-year relationship, the pair walks the red carpet as a couple while attending the Dior Fall 2023 menswear show in Giza, Egypt. In photos captured from the evening, the two look as happy and in love as ever in coordinating neutral ensembles: the singer in a semi-sheer mauve floor-length gown and Pattinson in a dapper cream-colored suit paired with a brown turtleneck.
“Will never forgot this show, under the stars and in front of the Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World,” Waterhouse later writes on Instagram.
May 2022: They celebrate Robert’s birthday.
Waterhouse joins the actor’s 36th birthday celebrations alongside Pattinson’s The Batman costar Zoë Kravitz, as well as Donald Glover and Tessa Thompson, among other stars. In photos captured by Myles Hendrik, the two share an embrace and Pattinson gives Waterhouse a kiss on the cheek.
February 2022: Robert opens up about Suki in rare interviews.
In his March 2022 cover interview with GQ, published February 8, Pattinson reveals an amusing story about how Waterhouse once teasingly indulged their repairman—a big DC Comics fan—about the actor’s starring role in The Batman. “He just randomly started talking about what a DC fan he is,” Pattinson recalls. “And I’m sitting there facing the other direction, and my girlfriend just keeps continuing the conversation with him. And I’m looking at her like: ‘Shut the fuck up!’ ”
He continues, “ ‘Why are you doing this to me?’ She was very entertaining. Just talking to an obsessive fan.”
Later in the month, Pattinson also shares on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he watched The Batman for the first time alongside Waterhouse. and that her sweet, heartfelt reaction to the film “kind of changed the entire thing.”
“I’m pretty sure she’s not normally into watching superhero movies,” he tells host Kimmel. “And just seeing that it was capturing her attention the entire time, and then she held my hand and touched it [to her face] and I could feel a little tear. And I was like, ‘No way!’ ”
July 2021: Suki slams a joke about their relationship.
Waterhouse publicly calls out HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot for making a joke about her relationship with Pattinson in a line on the show. “When are you going to get it? As far as the press is concerned, he’s R-Patz and you’re Suki Nobody,” Luna (Zión Moreno) says in a scene with Zoya (Whitney Peak).
In a since-deleted tweet, the actress writes, “Seeing critiques of patriarchy and sexism, then I get name checked as somebody’s ‘nobody’ girlfriend. Make it make sense!”
April 15, 2021: Suki reveals a sweet framed photo of her and Robert.
On Instagram, Waterhouse shares a photo of herself sitting on a coffee table in her apartment living room, where a framed photo of her giving Pattinson a kiss on the cheek sits.
November 23, 2020: They hang out with Robert’s parents.
In photos obtained by the Daily Mail, the two are spotted in London spending time with Pattinson’s parents, fueling ongoing engagement rumors.
January 2020: Engagement rumors swirl.
Waterhouse is spotted wearing a gold band on her finger during a dinner party for Dior in Paris, leading to speculation surrounding a potential engagement. The pair neither confirms nor denies these rumors.
May 2019: They’re spotted on multiple intimate dates.
The two celebrate the actor’s 33rd birthday on May 13 with a romantic dinner at the Chateau Marmont restaurant in Los Angeles. For part of the evening, they are also seen hanging out with actor Tom Sturridge, according to People.
Weeks later, on May 31, the pair go on a double date with Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn at San Vicente Bungalows in Hollywood, where the two couples are seen “laughing and talking,” per an onlooker via Us Weekly.
April 28, 2019: Robert officially acknowledges their relationship.
Pattinson publicly references Waterhouse for the first time in an interview with The Sunday Times, in which he expresses his desire to keep their relationship private.
Throughout the conversation, Pattinson opens up about his previous romances with Kristen Stewart and FKA Twigs, but remains reluctant to talk about his current relationship with Waterhouse. “Do I have to?” he asks upon the request to share more details about their low-key romance. “If you let people in, it devalues what love is. If a stranger on the street asked you about your relationship, you’d think it extremely rude. If you put up a wall, it ends better.”
Pattinson also says that as a celebrity, when he’s constantly captured doing regular things—like holding hands in public with his significant other—the boundaries between living and acting begin to blur. “I can’t understand how someone can walk down the street holding hands, and it’s the same as when I do it and a hundred people are taking your photo,” he says. “The line between when you’re performing and when you’re not will eventually get washed away and you’ll go completely mad.”
