If you've scrolled through TikTok at all in the week leading up to the premiere of Daisy Jones & the Six, you've probably come across Suki Waterhouse's videos.

The actress and singer stars as Karen Sirko, the feminist keyboardist of the Six, and she has been extremely active on the platform, sharing behind-the-scenes videos of her castmates. She even convinced leads Riley Keough and Sam Claflin to download the app by lip-syncing to "Look at Us Now," one of the songs from the show, though only Keough has consistently posted since she joined.

The star of Waterhouse's TikTok, however, is Camila Morrone, another actress in Daisy Jones. Morrone plays Camila Dunne, the wife of lead singer Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin). The two have been inseparable during the press tour promoting the show, and they became close friends during the filming of the series.

Ahead of the premiere, Waterhouse and Morrone chatted with Town & Country about ignoring the pressures of the Daisy Jones & the Six fandom, and how their off-screen closeness deepened the on-screen friendship of their characters.

Camila and Karen are really two fan favorite characters from Taylor Jenkins Reid's book. How did you make them your own?

Camila Morrone: It's natural to make it your own. You have the basis, which is what's in the book—they are the fan favorites that we fell in love with, which is why we auditioned for these characters and went after them with such force.

Suki Waterhouse: And then you end up personalizing them!

CM: You have to turn it into your own, you have no other option. You have to make it your own, because that's all you know how to do.

SW: I thought a lot about the position Karen was in and what kind of personality she had—she feels very comfortable being in a band of boys. The same way Camila does actually, you take a very managerial position with so much heart.

CM: Managerial!

SW: Well you do, you kind of manage them.

CM: I like it.

SW: You just have to bring your own experiences to them. We both got taught a lot of lessons from playing these women—which is always such an amazing thing when that happens. It's always the goal when you're an actor coming into a part: What can you overcome with with the character, how can you do it together, how can they move you forward in your own life as well? Playing Karen, I got to access a confidence and a fearlessness in some ways that I maybe didn't have before from her.

When you're working on a show like Daisy Jones & the Six, are you thinking about the fandom as you're filming—or do you try and ignore the noise?

CM: I was not thinking about that in filming—

SW: You kinda forget it about it when you're filming.

CM: I'm thinking about it now! I wasn't thinking about it then, luckily. I don't think that I realized—I knew it was such a big hit, I knew the book was a bestseller, I knew it was all those things, but I didn't have the relationship [to the story] at the time that I do with it now. Seeing the world excited for this show has made me happy that I didn't know how important it was gonna be at the time.

SW: When you're filming, you disappear into that vortex.

CM: You have no choice but to immerse yourself—it's like an adrenaline rush. You're moving so fast and filming so many scenes that you don't have time to worry about what people are gonna think of it, or how they're going to interpret, you're just going, marathon style.

Throughout the show, Camila and Karen have a strong friendship. Do you have head canons about their relationship or what they got up to off screen?

CM: Well I know what we got up to!

What'd you get up to?

CM: A lot of gossips and tea.

SW: For sure. It's always very fun, even when we're sitting in the background and there's something else going on, and Karen and Camila get to gossip, and we know that it's not going to be in the show.

CM [laughing]: Do you remember the Timothy Olyphant scene, when he's talking to Billy, to Sam Claflin, and they're sitting in the front and they're like 'Quiet in the back!' And it's just like me and Suki having a beer in the background—and we forget that we're supposed to mime. And we're like, 'so tell me everything.' Like, 'Quiet Suki and Cami, we can hear you!'

SW: Yeah, we definitely had that natural friendship. Our friendship evolved [quickly]—when you meet someone and start working with them and spend like 12 hours a day together for two years, you know everything about each other's lives and start dissecting everything and that bleeds into the show.

CM: And then you do a press tour with them, and you know them even more! Just keep knowing them more and more.
