Sugar Bowl Resort Announces Season Extension

Officials at Sugar Bowl announced on March 8th that due to the deep snowpack (nearly 15 feet at the summit), Sugar Bowl Resort will be extending its ski season by three weeks.

The resort also opened their famed terrain, The Palisades, yesterday.

Sugar Bowl has 172 inches of snow at the summit and a 96 inch base at the bottom of the mountain.

Due to the deep snowpack, the resort will spin lifts until April 28, 2024, and offer discounted lift access with the launch of its Spring Pass, and reduced daily lift tickets, beginning March 8.

This comes shortly after another Tahoe resort, Palisades Tahoe, announced they are also extending their season due to the snow conditions right now.

Last year, with the huge snowfall totals in Tahoe, Palisades Tahoe extended their season until the 4th of July, and Sugar Bowl extended their season through April 23rd.

Besides the discounted day tickets, Sugar Bowl is also offering a Spring Pass, which goes on sale on Friday, March 8th, and offers unrestricted skiing and riding from the purchase date through the end of the season.

The pass is $449 for ages 13+ and $129 for children ages 6-12, and as an extra incentive for local skiers, passholders from other Tahoe resorts can get a free Spring Pass with purchase of a 2024-25 unrestricted season pass.

Other Tahoe area resort passholders can also ski at Sugar Bowl this spring for just $89 per day Monday through Friday, or $99 on Saturdays and Sundays. Discounted tickets can be purchased at any ticket window with proof of a valid from any downhill ski area in the Tahoe region.

A new $49 children’s lift ticket (ages 6-12) valid any day of the week through the end of season will also be available for purchase starting March 8.

The resort is part of Mountain Collective, which is currently selling passes for $605 for the 24/25 season.
