On Succession, we’ve seen Jeremy Strong portray an insecure businessman (a performance that earned him a well-deserved Emmy nod for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, along with a 2024 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor, Drama). But in real life, Strong couldn’t be more different. Especially when it comes to his relationship with his wife, Emma Wall.

“My life has changed a lot in the sense that there's some sort of stable center,” Strong told GQ. “I never had that before—I was always just kind of a transient and work was the only thing. And that feels different now, in a very good way. There’s something to come home to.”

As it turns out, the 45-year-old actor and his partner have been happily married for seven years. But we want to know, how did they meet? And what does Emma do? Here, a detailed look at the couple’s relationship.

Strong’s wife is Emma Wall, a Denmark native who works as a child psychiatrist. Not much is known about Wall, and she doesn't appear to be on social media, so it's safe to say she leads a very private life.

In addition to psychiatry, she also co-directed a documentary about immigration, called Guerilla Habeas. “We started on this film at a time when I think so many of us were really appalled by what was happening in the immigration system,” she told Deadline.

Strong and Wall first met in 2012 while attending a party in New York. And according to The Guardian, it all went down during Hurricane Sandy.

After hitting it off, the couple dated for four years before tying the knot at a gorgeous castle, called Dragsholm Slot, in Denmark in 2016. While speaking with The Guardian, Strong gushed about his wife’s home country and said, “I love Denmark. I find it a very sane and gentle place. It feels like a refuge for me.”

The couple split their time between New York and Denmark (Brooklyn and Copenhagen, to be exact). Strong told The Guardian that they purchased the Danish property during the coronavirus pandemic.

He said, “It’s great to have somewhere that’s a docking station after all this work, which I find very enervating and scary and stressful.”

5. Will Wall Attend the Golden Globes and Emmy Awards?

Based on their 2023 appearances, there’s a good chance that Wall will accompany Strong to both the Golden Globes and the Emmy Awards. Last year, Strong brought Wall to multiple red-carpet events, including the 2023 Met Gala and The Albies.

5. Do They Have Children?

Strong and his wife are the proud parents of three children: Ingrid, born in 2018; Clara, born in 2019; and their most recent bundle of joy, born in 2021. According to Wall, Strong has already mastered the art of juggling his career with his parenting duties. She told The New Yorker, “He does a really good job of maintaining what he’s doing, but also creating a space for the family and a normal life.”

During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Strong revealed that he has a custom necklace dedicated to his children. “On the back is my daughter’s footprint,” he said. “And then my other daughter, I’ve got a bell. Her name is Clara, and the bell felt sort of clear and shining and bright, which is what her name means.”
