If Subway headquarters has a giant calendar that counts the days since they’ve released a new kind of bread, it’s just been reset from over 1,000 days to one single day. On Thursday, the Miami-based chain announced the arrival of a new lavash-style flatbread, the first addition to its bread lineup in three years.

The Middle Eastern-inspired flatbread will be available at Subway restaurants throughout the United States starting on Thursday, April 11. According to the company, the lavash bread “holds more ingredients than a wheat tortilla,” which means that a six-inch wrap could contain the same amount of protein as one of its footlong subs. The company is also launching four new wraps that showcase the flatbread, and its ability to be absolutely loaded with meat, cheese, and veggies.

The four wraps include a Homestyle Chicken Salad Wrap, which is freshly made at each restaurant and topped with cucumber, lettuce, red onions, spinach, and tomatoes; a Honey Mustard Chicken Wrap that combines rotisserie-style chicken with Monterey cheddar cheese, honey mustard sauce, lettuce, red onions, and tomatoes; an oven-roasted Turkey, Bacon, and Avocado Wrap that is accentuated by Monterey cheddar, and a tangy peppercorn ranch sauce; and a Cali Caprese wrap that introduces BelGioioso’s fresh mozzarella cheese to freshly sliced avocado, cucumbers, lettuce, red onions, spinach, tomatoes, roasted garlic aioli and the chain’s MVP Parmesan vinaigrette.

“Wraps have become an afterthought on restaurant menus with uninspiring choices and snack-size portions that leave you wanting more,” Paul Fabre, Subway’s senior vice president of culinary and innovation, said in a statement. “That insight kickstarted the process of revamping Subway’s wraps. We spent over a year creating signature recipes with unique ingredients that bring out the best in our new lavash-style flatbread, and also fuel you up without weighing you down.”

Subway regulars can also order any of the chain’s sandwiches on the new lavash-style flatbread — and then they can wash it down with an ice-cold Pepsi. In March, Subway signed a 10-year agreement with PepsiCo to ensure that Pepsi-brand beverages — including Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar, Aquafina, Gatorade, Lipton, MTN Dew, Starry, and Tropicana — would continue to be available in its restaurants. It has also extended its partnership with PepsiCo subsidiary Frito Lay through 2030, so those Baked Lay’s and Sun Chips will be staying on the Sides menu.

"The partnership with PepsiCo is an exciting milestone in our journey to become America's favorite place to eat, drink, and work," Doug Fry, president of Subway North America, said at the time. "It is a win-win for everyone, as it brings a delicious suite of beverage and snack choices to our guests.”
