The Subtle Way Meghan Markle Paid Tribute to Princess Diana During Her Trip to New York City
Over the weekend, Meghan Markle honored her late mother-in-law Princess Diana with a stylish tribute. While making an appearance at the Global Live Citizen event in New York City with her husband Prince Harry on Saturday, the Duchess of Sussex carried one of the princess's go-to handbags: Dior's D-Lite Bag in black.
The top-handle purse was originally called "Chouchou" until the brand changed the name in 1996 to honor Princess Di after she was seen wearing it. It was originally gifted to Princess Di in 1995 by the First lady of France, and after receiving the gift (before it was even on sale to the public, might we add), the Princess of Wales was often photographed carrying the chic accessory. She also eventually had the bag also made in navy blue to match her eye color, according to DailyMail.

Markle paired the boxy bag with a white mini shift dress adorned with a beaded floral design, a black overcoat, and matching pointed-toed pumps. She also accessorized with Diana's $12,000 Cartier watch — an heirloom passed down to the duchess.

During their appearance, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex graced the stage at the event to speak about global vaccine equity, with Markle saying, "Every single person on this planet has a fundamental right to get this vaccine. That's the point, but that's not happening."
She continued, "And while in this country and many others, you can go almost anywhere and get vaccinated, billions of people around the world cannot. This year, the world's expected to produce enough doses to meet the target of vaccinating 70% of people in every single country. But it is wrong that so much of the vaccine supply has only gone to just 10 wealthy nations so far, and not everyone else. It's just not OK."
