Subaru's Puppy Bowl Ad With Golden Retrievers Is All Too Relatable for Parents

Any parent who has driven anywhere for an distance can totally relate to the Golden Retriever parents in the spot that aired during the Puppy Bowl yesterday.

Watching Team Ruff and Team Fluff adorably duke it out in the Puppy Bowl is always a great time, but we'd be lying if we didn't say that this ad totally won our hearts.

First of all, there's nothing cuter than a Golden Retriever puppy. We love the exasperation on mom and dad's dog faces when they listen to the tinkly rendition of the lullaby and it's all too familiar to any parent who had to drive along to their own toddler's musical tastes. We are thinking about you, Baby Shark (do do do do.)

The little puppy's whimpers from the back seat when the song ends and dad dog's heavy sigh are all just perfect. The tagline "Dog tested, dog approved" appeals to all dog lovers. I mean, we want our dogs to be comfy when they are riding in our cars right? A lot of us feel like our pups are family members so Subaru definitely knows their audience.

Another awesome fact about this car company? They love shelter pets. According to the Subaru website, Subaru is proud to help make the world a better place for them with over $51 million donated to national and local organizations, which has supported the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of over 420,000 animals.

Now, I am not in the market for a new car, but if I was, well, I just may take my own dog for a test drive.

Car Safety Tips For Dogs

First of all, never leave your dog unattended in your car, no matter how long you'll be away from them. Temperatures in cars can get very hot or very cold quickly, and it's just not worth risking your fur baby's life.

Make sure you secure your dog in a crate or carrier specifically designed for car travel. Or use a special seat restraint designed for dogs. This provides a safe and secure space for your dog and prevents them from roaming around the car, which can be dangerous for both the dog and the driver.

Never, ever let your dog ride in the front seat or on your lap, as they can be seriously injured by airbag deployment in the event of a crash.

If you're driving a long distance, make sure you pack all of their essentials like food, toys and a water bowl and take frequent breaks to let your pup do their business and have playtime and exercise.
