Given that I shop online for a living, it’s pretty clear that finding new pieces is one of my favorite activities. But over the years, I’ve learned that quality is better than quantity, and it’s all about investing in items you can mix and match. That’s why I’ve started curating a capsule wardrobe for each season, and this spring, I turned to stylist Liz Teich of The New York Stylist for advice.

Teich broke down her capsule wardrobe must-haves into eight easy-to-digest categories that cover clothes, shoes, and accessories. And to truly make your shopping experience a breeze, I found styles on Amazon that correspond to each category, with prices starting at just $12.

Spring Capsule Wardrobe Must-Haves

Trench Coat: The Drop Noa Trench Coat

There’s still a chill in the air, which means you need a great in-between jacket. And, according to Teich, it’s all about the trench coat. “This season we're seeing more updates to the classic beige trench like oversized or cropped styles, as well as other colors like olive,” she said. That’s why I chose this style from The Drop; it has all the makings of a traditional trench, including double-breasted buttons and a fabric belt, but it comes in unexpected colors, such as olive green and pastel yellow. Not to mention, it’s on sale for just $66.

Modern Blazer: Luvamia Cropped Blazer

Another outwear option, blazers can instantly elevate a simple ensemble. Teich is opting for “boxier, double-breasted versions” this spring, since they “look great over dresses or jeans.” Give the style a go with this under-$40 Luvamia cropped blazer that a reviewer called “gorgeous” and “great quality.” It comes in eight colorways, including both neutrals and statement shades, and it’s machine washable, so you won’t have to worry about sending it out for dry cleaning.

Perfect White Tee: Alternative Cropped T-Shirt

$12 at Amazon

A classic white T-shirt is necessary in any wardrobe, but for spring, Teich recommends going for something “boxier with a menswear-inspired style,” like this Alternative cropped tee. It’s made from a cotton blend that’s “soft and light without feeling sheer,” per a reviewer, and it has drop shoulders for a lived-in look. Use the T-shirt now as a layering piece under jackets and sweaters, and style it on its own once the weather heats up.

Updated Jean: Levi's 94 Baggy Wide-Leg Jean

$56 at Amazon

When it comes to denim, “swap your skinnies for a trending barrel-leg or more timeless straight- or wide-leg jean,” Teich advised. These Levi’s baggy jeans hit the mark, and they’re on sale for less than $60. Available in three washes, the jeans have a mid-rise waistband, zipper fly, functional pockets on both the front and back, and a loose-fitting silhouette. Style the pants with your new white tee for an effortlessly chic outfit.

Versatile Dress: Anrabess Sleeveless Racerback Flowy Dress

$29 at Amazon

Spring is the season of long dresses, and Teich said she’s loving the “full-skirt dress trend especially because you can layer it with a sweater to look like a skirt [during] this in-between season.” Try out the style with this Anrabess sleeveless midi that has a knit, racerback top and flowy, poplin bottom. And, according to a reviewer, you can finish off the look with a range of footwear options, including “espadrilles, sandals, or dressier sneakers.”

Flats: Sam Edelman Michaela Mary Jane Flat

$130 at Amazon

Speaking of shoes, flats are the footwear of the moment. Teich is especially a fan of Mary Janes, and I can personally attest to the quality of this Sam Edelman pair. The flats are made from buttery soft leather, and they have an adjustable strap, so you can find your most comfortable fit. While I own the shoes in the black version, I can’t stop thinking about the metallic pair, and I may or may not have just placed them in my cart.

Fun Sneaker: Vintage Havana Grande Sneaker

Amazon

$90 at Amazon

If sneakers are more your vibe, Teich recommends going for “multi-colored, retro-style trainers” to “liven up” your capsule wardrobe. These Vintage Havana sneakers definitely check off the “fun” box, thanks to their pop of green and metallic star detail. Plus, they have stretchy laces, so you can easily slip them on and off without having to retie them with every wear. Talk about balancing comfort and style.

Eye-Catching Belt: Monique Snakeskin Print Skinny Belt

<p>Amazon</p>

Amazon

$13 at Amazon

“From studded to snakeskin, a belt is the perfect way to accessorize for spring,” Teich said. Get the look with this $13 faux leather, snakeskin-print belt that comes in four color combinations, each with a contrasting metallic buckle. It’s the perfect finishing touch to throw on with jeans or trousers this season to give your ‘fits some extra oomph without straying too far from a neutral color palette.
