A drink order can say a lot about a person...and a state. Do you prefer martinis or margaritas? A dive bar or a cocktail lounge? We've covered your state's favorite Super Bowl dips and Christmas cookies. Now, we're revealing your state's favorite drink order—and tipping habits.

Upgraded Points surveyed 2,200 people across the U.S. to study their bar-ordering habits, including beer and classic cocktail of choice. Drinkers were also asked about their bar preference, bartender tips, and the price they'd be willing to pay for a premium cocktail.

People liked mixed drinks the most (27.9 percent), followed by cocktails (27.1 percent) and beer (25.9 percent). An overwhelming percentage of respondents picked margaritas as their favorite classic cocktail. Blue Moon was the most popular favorite classic beer. And the brewery boom won't be going away anytime soon: breweries are the number one spot where people like to drink.

State by state, there were some interesting results. Nevada and New Hampshire share identical ordering habits—preferring cocktails, particularly the Cosmopolitan, to enjoy at a lounge. While respondents from a majority of states reach for a margarita, Moscow mule, or mojito as their classic cocktail of choice, a few states stood out. Colorado was the only state to pick a Paloma. Mississippi went with the martini and Massachusetts the Manhattan. And when it comes to bar preference, Tennessee and Kentucky are the only two states to prefer drinking at a music venue.

But how much are drinkers across the U.S. willing to spend on a drink? On average, people are willing to pay $12.64 for a premium cocktail, with those in New York and California willing to pay the most. When it comes to tipping, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, Colorado, and New Jersey come in at the top, tipping over 25 percent. And 3 percent don't tip at all, with the largest share of no-tipping respondents coming from Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Washington, and Utah.

Keep in mind, some states weren't included due to a low pool of respondents—Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming.

So, what do you think about your state's choices? Here's some cocktail inspiration if you're feeling thirsty.
