Average Snowfall: 90.0 inches

Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, stands as the second-most populous city in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, renowned for its exceptionally snowy winters. Nestled along the shores of the St. Marys River, which naturally separates Michigan from Ontario, Canada, this record-setting city experienced its snowiest year in the last five years, accumulating an impressive 116.2 inches of snow in 2016.

2. Caribou, ME

Average Snowfall: 82.14 inches

Caribou, Maine, naturally ranks high among the snowiest cities in the United States, given it's appropriate name. Renowned for its winter sports, Caribou offers abundant opportunities for skiing, skating, and hiking amidst the breathtaking forests and natural landscapes of Maine. Snowmobile enthusiasts can take advantage of more than 1,600 miles of meticulously maintained trails, facilitating international travel to Canada even in the most snow-laden conditions.

3. Erie, PA
