What is probably a teacher’s worst nightmare became a reality when a professor at Canada’s University of Toronto Scarborough campus accidentally projected hardcore porn in front of a packed lecture hall. Worse still, the moment was captured by a student on Snapchat and shared online.

Around 500 students were diligently attending their first “Introduction to Biological and Cognitive Psychology” class, taught by professor Steve Joordens, when they witnessed an embarrassing moment that will likely haunt the psyche of the teacher for years to come.

As the school’s newspaper put it, he certainly started the lecture with a “bang.”

The video was shared on Reddit, but be forewarned, since it is porn, the clip is graphic and obviously not safe for work. It can be watched here.

The original poster, a first-year student studying philosophy, was — needless to say — surprised by the video. The student wrote to the Varsity: “I was not expecting that especially this early in the morning… I found the whole situation funny and he made a lot of people laugh.”

Laughter can be heard in the video, but it also appears as though some students are leaving the class. That may not necessarily be because some found the graphic scene offensive. Some students from the previous class were likely leaving just as the professor had started to set up his computer.

The teacher released the following statement to the school newspaper: “With respect to the event that happened prior to my class on Monday the 24th, I want to be clear that what happened was completely unintentional and I feel absolutely terrible about it. I have apologized to my class and now I want to move on. Thanks to my students, colleagues and my amazing family for their support and understanding.”

Don Campbell, the media relations officer at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus, told the outlet, “We encourage students who may be feeling unsettled by the incident to speak with their registrar or staff at the Health & Wellness Centre.” The university is also looking into the incident, but stated they can not reveal personal information.

Joordens has been teaching at UTSC since 1995 and has won numerous awards, according to the Varsity, including Canadian Post-Secondary #EdTech Professor of the Year in 2017, and this accident clearly does not define his expertise or his teaching skills.
