Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Dianne Buswell has spoken about her working relationship with celebrity partner Joe Sugg, and how she has to give him pep talks when training gets tough.

Speaking backstage at Elstree Studios, Buswell said:

"Joe has never danced before. If something gets too hard, a little bit of Negative Joe comes out. I just try to stop that straight away. The reason I give him hard things to do is because I have faith in him and think he's so talented."

On Saturday night the pair will perform a Waltz to Sleeping At Last's Rainbow Connection, a song from the 1979 film The Muppet Movie.

"When I am dancing the Waltz with Joe I feel like I'm dancing with someone who's danced for a while," she said.

"The feeling of dancing is one of the most important things. If it feels nice, then it's going to look good. The feeling of the Waltz is really nice," Buswell continued.

"Dianne just beams into my face when we dance," Sugg added.

YouTuber Sugg has become an early favourite in the competition after impressing the judges with a series of high-tempo dances, including the Jive and the Charleston. The pair will slow things down with their ballroom routine this week, which follows Buswell's announcement that she has split with her boyfriend of 10 months, Emmerdale actor Anthony Quinlan.

According to tabloid reports, the pair allegedly called their relationship off after Quinlan noticed Buswell's bond with Sugg, adding another layer to the Strictly Curse in the wake of the kissing controversy involving fellow contestant Seann Walsh and his pro partner Katya Jones.
